Waves crashing onto a spectacular shoreline of rocky cliffs and pocket beaches. A high class village filled with visitors from around the world. A grand old hotel, acres of public parks. No wonder La Jolla is home to a thriving art community.

However, if you want to paint in solitude, either pick one of the dozen rainy days iof the year, or pick another area. There is usually a steady stream of cars along the narrow seaside road, and parking places are hard to find.

But once you've seen the painting opportunities, you'll probably decide it's well worth the effort.
