You can explore seventy miles of beaches without leaving San Diego County. Water, sand, people, sun -- sounds like the perfect recipe for covering a canvas or sheet of watercolor paper. Most beaches offer plenty of parking (some free, some not) and public restrooms.

However, Keep in mind that the temperature can be ten degrees color at the water's edge, and there is usually a breeze, so prepare accordingly.

But once you've seen the painting opportunities, you'll probably decide it's well worth the effort.
